The Fed's 75 basis-point hike
On 15 June 2022 the Federal Reserve raised rates by 0.75 percentage points, the biggest single move since 1994, after inflation ran hotter than expected. Across 2022 it lifted the target range from 0–0.25% to 4.25–4.50%.
The speed of tightening repriced almost every asset class: long-duration bonds and growth stocks fell most, and the dollar strengthened.
The takeaway
How fast rates rise matters as much as where they end up.
